FEDERICO DA MONTEFELTRO, DUKE OF URBINO / THE LIFE OF AN ITALIAN PRINCE

Important: this event has passed!

Peace, money and aspiration transformed the daily life of the Renaissance Prince from the misery of a dank castle to a civilized environment full of light, culture and the arts. For some, the arts was a personal pleasure, for others culture was a deliberate attempt to remind us today of their illustrious family name. As a mercenary the Duke of Urbino terrified opponents, as a husband he had difficulty in siring a son and as a patron he built an ideal new sort of palace. From this court were commissioned Piero della Francesco, Perugino and Raphael.
